The Kitchen Witches opens this weekend

Come see what is cooking at Redlands Footlighters! The Kitchen Witches, written by Caroline Smith and directed by Steve Johnson, opens this Saturday and continues on weekends through October 25.

8:00 PM — OCTOBER 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, & 24
2:00 PM — OCTOBER 4, 11, 18, & 25

Isobel and Dolly, two rival cable-access cooking show hostesses that have been lifelong enemies, find themselves together on a new show. Think Julia Child and Paula Dean fighting over a man and a roast chicken! Temperatures quickly rise, food and insults fly, and Dolly’s son Stephen tries to put out the fires on and off the set. The ratings (and animosity) continue to grow as people tune in to watch the drama come to a boil. Some fun family secrets unfold as the show goes along too!

This small but talented cast is filled with local Redlands theatrical talent. We have the wonderful Mary Curruthers that has graced our stage in several shows and you might have seen her in many musicals at the Redlands Bowl, Mary Poppins, perhaps?!? Have you seen some shows at our neighboring Redlands Theater Festival, if so, you might recognize Kristin Staton, Eliza Bishop and Pete Bennett from their multiple roles on their outdoor stage. In fact, our amazing director, Steve Johnson is a veteran of many years of phenomenal shows at the Redlands Theater Festival, plus he was on our stage a little while back in Pump Boys and Dinettes.

The Kitchen Witches was the winner of the 2005 Samuel French Canadian Playwrights Contest.

The Kitchen Witches runs for four weekends, Opening Gala on Saturday night 10/3/15: Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online or through the box office at 909-793-2909. The box office is open two hours before each performance.
