Comedy Performance Workshop

Ready to sharpen your comedic timing and bring more laughs to the stage? The this workshop is for you! Whether you are prepping for an audition, building your toolkit, or just looking to play, come spend an afternoon digging into the craft of stage comedy.
Workshop participants will explore the fundamentals of physical and verbal comedy – from the perfect pratfall to the perfectly timed “take” – in a hands-on, supportive environment. Come dressed to move.
What you’ll explore:
- Commitment to character – the foundation that makes every laugh land
- Pratfalls, trips, and comedic violence dyads (slaps, kicks, and safe stage chaos)
- “Takes”: Spit takes, double-takes, and the underrated slow take
- Banter: Pace, rhythm, tension, and release
- Irony in comedy – the secret sauce of smart, layered humor
About the facilitators:
Jason Connors is an award-winning theater artist with over 20 years of professional experience across San Diego, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis. A UCSD Theatre Arts graduate with a master’s degree from NYU, he has worked with acclaimed companies including Cygnet Theatre and trained with mentors such as Craig Noel, founder of the Old Globe.
Rob Thurmond is a full-time martial arts instructor with over 30 years of theatrical experience on both the East and West Coasts. He has directed three productions at Redlands Footlighters, including his award-winning Picasso at the Lapin Agile.

Shakespeare 101: Audition Preparation Workshop
Saturday, January 24, 2026
Ready to ‘up your game’ for Shakespeare auditions? Then this workshop is for you, and offered just in time for auditions for ‘Merry Wives of Windsor’!
Workshop participants will learn the fundamentals of auditioning for Shakespeare, including scansion and textual context. Registrants will be provided a monologue in advance to use during the session, or they may work with a monologue of their own choosing.
For a deeper dive, a limited number of 1:1 coaching sessions for participants will be offered starting at 12:30pm. Coaching sessions will provide feedback to help improve audition readings and fluency with text and style.
Instructor:
Pamela Lambert is an award winning actor and director. She holds a Masters in Shakespeare in Performance and has studied privately (and performed) with A Noise Within and the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum. In addition to directing many Shakespearean productions, Pamela has adapted three of the Bard’s plays, including the upcoming version of the ‘Merry Wives of Windsor,’ which she will direct at Redlands Footlighters this season.

Scene Study Workshop for Actors

Are you ready to push your craft and step into deeper, more truthful performances? Join Footlighters member/performer Jason Connors for an intensive 6-week workshop designed to challenge and inspire actors at every level.
Drawing from Stanislavski’s system, Adler and Meisner techniques, Bogart’s Viewpoints, and Suzuki physical practices, this course blends the best of multiple traditions into practical, hands-on training.
What you’ll gain:
- Confidence in building layered, believable characters
- Stronger connection and chemistry with your scene partner
