Redlands Footlighters 2014 Summer Youth Workshop

It is with great excitement and anticipation that the Redlands Footlighters Theatre proudly announces their 2014 Summer Youth Workshop.

The workshop will be directed by Mia Mercado. Ms. Mercado served as Director of the 2012 Summer Youth Workshop production of Silverado Sarah. She has been a performer, director and choreographer for over 30 years and brings with her a wealth of knowledge to share.

“I am excited to provide a fun and collaborative environment for our young performers to stretch their creative wings,” said Mercado.

This outstanding opportunity to learn from a local theatre veteran is open to performers, ages 6-18. The workshop, which encompasses all aspects of live theatre including, acting, singing, dancing, costume design, set construction, lights and sound, will culminate in several performances of Animal Dance, a vaudevillian musical, written by senior workshop students.

Auditions for Animal Dance will be held at the theatre, June 2nd and 3rd at 6pm. All who audition will be cast in the show. Please prepare a song to sing and be prepared to read for placement in the show.

Workshop and rehearsals will be held Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3pm to 7:00pm, with an occasional Saturday from 9am – 12pm. Production dates and times are July 17 – 7pm, July 18 – 7pm, July 19 – 2pm & 7pm, July 20 – 2pm at the Footlighters Theatre, 1810 Barton Rd., Redlands.

The workshop fee is $39.50 per youth, with parent participation; $200 per youth, without parent participation. Participation options include; Marketing, Ticket Sales, Ushering, Costumes, Hair/Make-up, Set Construction, Backstage Helper, Snack Provider, etc….

Redlands Footlighters Theater is one of the oldest community theaters in the United States. It is known for its outstanding productions and loyal audiences. Many of the Youth Workshop participants are cast in the regular season shows and go on to do theatre across the Inland Empire and beyond.
